  • An Integrated Experience

Gracenote expanded into sports data via acquisition. To demonstrate how sports data integrates with video data, a "sports experience bar" was built for the Gracenote Lounge at CES 2015.

The sports experience area included 2 flat screen TVs (with live TV service) and a bar (serving beer, of course). On the bar were iPads and Android phones running the Sports Data demo.

The Sports Data demo pulled live data from APIs to present a sports tailored remote control - visitors could use the iPads to check on real-time scores or the play-by-play of any live NBA or NHL game. The Android phones were equipped with IR blasters, so if there was a live broadcast, the visitor could tune in to watch the game.

In addition to planning and designing the application(s), I "scripted" the experience to serve as an "break" for the weary convention-goer. Guests were encouraged to grab a drink, check on their favorite team and perhaps watch the game without being subject to a sales pitch.
